This is the ring The Boyfriend (whoops — The Fiancé!) slipped on my finger earlier tonight, following his proposal on one knee on our bedroom floor. (He wanted to do it downtown beneath the Christmas lights, but I was being uncooperative.) The design of the ring is based on my mother’s engagement ring, which I keep in a box on my desk so that I may periodically look at it fondly, but The Fiancé added sapphires because that’s his birthstone and because blue is my favorite color.

In all the excitement, I forgot to eat dinner. So I’m going to go do that now. Whoo!
